Slate Studio is a full-service video and content production company based in Providence, Rhode Island.
We collaborate with organizations, nonprofits, and creative teams to produce story-driven work built on clarity, collaboration, and trust.
The residency extends that same approach to individual artists, offering a professional environment where experimentation meets real-world production.
The Residency Experience
The Slate Artist Residency provides structured time and access for creative development.
Residents work independently while engaging with the daily rhythm of an active studio—observing, connecting, and creating within a space designed for collaboration.
Residents receive access to:
STUDIO SPACE
Full use of our production areas, lighting grid, and sound-treated rooms for filming, photography, or installation.
PROFESSIONAL EQUIPMENT
Cameras, lighting, and sound tools used in commercial and documentary projects.
CREATIVE ADVISORY SESSIONS
Conversations with Slate producers and editors on visual language, story structure, and post-production strategy.
STUDIO INTEGRATION
Opportunities to observe active productions, learn from working teams, and understand real project workflows.
CREATIVE COMMUNITY
Connections with visiting artists, the Slate team, and Rhode Island’s broader creative network.
Note: Artists receive an onboarding session, workspace orientation, and optional creative consultation during their stay.
